The State of New York has chosen to adopt the Smart Tag™ as their State Disaster Triage Tag and the Smart Incident Command System™ as their incident management solution.
Utilising established standards in triage techniques, (uniform color coding, START triage, ICS terminology); the Smart Incident Command System™ also addresses the shortfalls of many triage tools.
The Smart Tag™ is a key component of Smart Equipment™, developed by TSG Associates Ltd to address concerns over the inadequacies of conventional triage tags. The system also incorporates the Smart Tape™, which can be deployed to triage injured children, who have different needs to adult casualties.
The acceptance and proper use of the Smart Tag™ was essential to maintain a high level of preparedness universally throughout the state. To that end the training program was implemented state wide to ensure that all providers are educated in the system.
