Anyone who deals with casualties will understand Triage, and yet it is an area mainly un-researched or developed. Mass casualty incidents on the scale of 9/11 or the 7/7 bombings occur once in a career. But when they do occur, a systematic approach to utilising available resources is needed.
TSG Associates Ltd started researching Triage in 2000, and looking at ways to develop the system and make it more practical to use. For Triage to work at a mass casualty scene, it must first be put into general practice so that it is a well known and understood procedure.
